Care & Facilities

We offer a wonderful step free home to the actively retired, where day to day needs are catered for.  Whilst not a ‘Care Home’ our residents are active and do not suffer from Alzheimer’s or Dementia or in need of regular nursing care.  A modern stair lift is installed for those who do not wish to walk up and down.

Residents furnish their own en-suite rooms, can have their own television and telephone line and can welcome family and friends to visit in the comfort of their rooms or our conservatory, which enjoys magnificent views across Welshpool and The Long Mountain.  Residents have their own doorbell and keys together with their own telephone lines (at own cost).  Each room is equipped with a small fridge and an area for making tea/coffee etc.  Wifi is installed at the house.  Car parking space is available for those residents with a car.

Residents have access to Laundry Facilities and if they do not wish to do their own laundry/cleaning of their rooms, this can be arranged at an additional cost.   A hairdresser visits the house regularly together with a beautician.

Monthly costs at Dorothy Hughes House are kept to a minimum and yet provide residents with good class services.  Please contact us for further details – you will be surprised at our rates.

We have a nicely appointed room that residents can book if they have family visiting.  If you would like to come along and try us out for perhaps a couple of weeks, then this can be arranged.  We can also provide short respite accommodation - please contact our Administrator for further details.
